Kennedy, 26 at the time had been a professional banjo player for four years. Larry spent six months in 1964 performing at the New York World’s Fair in the Red Garter, part of the Wisconsin pavilion. What made Kennedy so popular was his ability to play virtually anything from Classics and Broadway Show tunes to all of the old time banjo favorites. While already proficient as a right hand player, Larry also taught himself to play left-handed banjo as well. Larry Performed professionally in the San Francisco area for about 3 years before succeeding Dave Marty at the Chicago Red Garter.
