Description |
One 8" x 10" b&w publicity photo of Larry Kennedy (The Red Garter) December 29,1964. Caption on back of photo: San Francisco's Larry Kennedy, regarded in some circles as the dean of young American banjoists, will play lead banjo at the Red Garter banjo parlor, 21 East Pearson, Thursday evening, New Year's eve. Kennedy, 26 and a professional banjoist for four years, spent six months of this year as the featured banjoist at the New York World's Fair in the Red Garter at the Wisconsin pavilion. A San Francisco native, Kennedy played banjo parlors in the Bay area for more than three years. Chicago Red Garter impresario Chuck Hillstrom has announced a New Year's eve policy of "no reservations, first-come first serve at regular prices," and promised to furnish the house with hats, horns and whistles free of charge. Kennedy succeeded Dave Marty on lead banjo at the Chicago Red Garter this week and will be a regular Red Garter feature. |
